Prayer Letter Archives

October 2005 .:. Harer Family Prayer Letter

Dear friends,

The six billion people of the world need the message of the cross and Mexico is no exception. We recently did a survey of fourteen missionaries and asked about the strongholds of the country. Catholicism, idol worship and alcoholism lead the list of those things that hinder the light from shining in the darkness. I am reminded of the words of John Falconer "I have but one candle of life to burn, and I would rather burn it out in a land filled with darkness than in a land flooded with light."

Training and more training seems to be the order of the day for us. We spent six weeks this fall at the Center for Intercultural Training. There we met with more than thirty other people to learn how to adjust to another culture and how to learn a new language. It was a huge encouragement to learn from veteran missionaries and with others “who have abandoned it all for the sake of the call.” Now it is time to move on to our mission headquarters in Philadelphia for Pre-Field Orientation.

All this leads up to waiting on the Lord’s timing for actually making our move to Mexico. That is going to be a difficult time as we say good-bye to family and friends like you who have been such an important part of our lives over the years. We would like to be able to go in January and are preparing for that possibility.

Almost before the ink could dry on the last letter I (Ken) was on the way to Tennessee to be with my mother who suffered a serious stroke. After three difficult months of recovery she is now home and much improved. So, we want to take this opportunity to rejoice in the Lord and offer Him praise and adoration for His graciousness to us.

If you could stop and hold the ropes in ten minutes of earnest prayer for the following requests we would be encouraged and blessed:

1) Pray that the power of the ancient gods and spirit-world may be broken in the Spanish speaking majority and in the “Christo-pagan” Amerindian groups.

2) Pray for the final round of preparation at CrossWorld headquarters November 13th – 19th.

3) Pray for a supernatural under girding for our family as we leave the familiar and transition into new beginnings.

4) Pray for the right person to go Mexico with us to help with homeschooling the children.

By the way, we send out a short weekly prayer update called “Rope-Holders” for any of you who now have email and would like to receive these updates. Contact us at ken@kneelingwetriumph.com if you are interested.

Exalting Christ,

Ken & Diana
